Design
The 6010 is designed with first-time cell phone users in mind. The buttons are large and the case, which is compatible with Nokia “X-Press On” front and rear faceplates, is ergonomically shaped. A large 96 x 65 color display features large fonts for easier reading and navigation of the phone’s menus. A large power button dominates the top of the phone, while a 2.5mm headphone jack and charging input are placed on the bottom edge. The 6010 uses an internal antenna– nothing to snag or break off.

Calling Features
The 6010’s built-in address book can store up to 500 contacts for quick and easy management of phone numbers and addresses. In addition to a vibrate alert, the phone comes with built-in polyphonic ringtones. Different ringtones can be set for individual callers so you know who’s calling without having to look at the device. One-touch dialing and voice-activated dialing are also supported. A call log keeps track of your 20 most recent dialed calls and 10 of your most recent missed or received calls.

Messaging, Internet and Tools
The 6010 has all the bases covered when it comes to messaging and Internet connectivity. Use the phone’s built-in picture messaging capability to send text, graphics and pictures to your friends. The phone features support for instant messaging applications (carrier messaging charges apply), and there’s also a built-in web browser for downloads and mobile web browsing. Traditional text messaging and picture messaging is also supported by the phone. T9 text entry, a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit– a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.

A number of handy software tools are bundled with the 6010 including a calculator, a calendar with up to 500 entries, a to-do list with up to 30 entries, and an alarm clock with snooze.

Imaging and Entertainment
Use wallpaper templates or customize your own wallpapers to give your phone a look that suits your tastes. Eight color schemes are built-in to help you dress up the phone’s menus. The 6010 is Java enabled, meaning it supports games written on the Java platform. The phone ships with some great games, Air Glide, Sky Diver, Backgammon, and Bowling.

Vital Statistics
The Nokia 6010 weighs 3.76 ounces and measures 4.68 x 1.97 x 0.90 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 5.5 hours of digital talk time, and up to 10 days of digital standby time. It runs on the 850/1900 GSM/GPRS frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.

These phones are to replace the same 3 year old phones. My parents, 90 & 89, have no trouble seeing or using the buttons. Took the chip out of the old cell and into the new no problem. I on the other hand got my new one from the cell company who did not have the same phone. Can not see the screen in daylight and some light rooms and the buttons are a nightmare. If you don’t need a camera or flip postage stamp size phone, get this one.

Very happy with the phone. Just needed a basic phone after the phone at&t gave me broke. I took the sim card out of my broken phone and put in this one and it worked great from the start. This phone works in places that my wife’s will not.

Customer Review: Plain and Simple Cell Phone
If all you want in a cell phone is to receive and make calls, and to do some text messaging….this is the phone for you. It does not have any of the fancy bells and whistles that the latest cell phones have, but it does exactly what a telephone is suppose to do….make telephone calls. I have a digital camera to use when I want to take pictures, I have a CD player so that I can listen to music, and I have a DVD player to watch movies. I don’t need those options in my telephone. And when I want to use the Internet or shop online, I go to a computer. I don’t need to use my phone for that. Also, you are able to see how many minutes you have remaining on the phone by typing in #999# and then hit send or by going to [...] and going into your account. Good telephone, plain and simple.

I just got this phone like a week ago and it’s my new best friend! The options and features on this blackberry are ENDLESS! I have mine in the pink pearl and I get so many compliments on it. This phone takes wonderful pictures! The megapixel is 2.0. It holds over 1000 text messages. I text way more than I talk and I have to have a phone that’s text friendly. I love the text feature on this phone. I can text like three people at one time and not be confused because when you reply to that person their last message comes up. The calender feature is so neat! I love the ringtones and screen savers.

I have a cell phone only because I’ve been stranded in a dead car on the side of the road too many times. I just want a phone that will let me call the emergency services if I need them, or to let my family know I’m not dead, just stranded. I really like this little phone because it’s small and fits in the “watch” pocket of my jeans. It has a few more features than I will ever use, for example… why would I web surf on a tiny screen when I have a computer with a 19″ flat screen at home? I do like the text messaging, and the calculator. The voice transmission is clear and easy to hear, even for someone with some hearing loss like myself. I found the menus easy to use, if not always intuitive.
