In spite of what you may read about this phone or the XL3402B on Phillips website or the leaflet for the phone, it doesn’t have a microphone mute feature. So for SOHO use, it’s not very appropriate.

Customer Review: Unhappy with it
The buttons stick and make it hard to dial, the volume want go up loud enough to hear others on the other end unless you have everything in the house off and have complete silence even on the highest setting. If it didn’t cost so much to ship it back I would return it and get a refund.

Customer Review: Not a very good Uniden phone
I’ve owned Uniden in the past and liked that phone a lot. This one on the other hand is terrible. The battery life is a joke. The reception for the first week was all static if you left the living room where the base was located. I wish I would have returned this phone right away! Big mistake in keeping it. I suppose you get what you pay for and recommend you spend the extra money and get a better model. Oh, and say you’re on the phone and your headset is about to die, you can’t just pick up a different one and use that one. You’ll have to re-call the person you were talking to. It’s doesn’t allow 2 phones to be on at once. And considering the battery life is terrible, this is a feature that is a must.
Customer Review: Perfect little low priced cordless phone/answering machine
Works surprisingly well for the price, set up is a breeze, manual is complete and easy to understand, and phone is easy to operate with all the many, many features; low learning curve, great sound quality and range. No interference even living in a downtown area with lots of businesses and a great deal of traffic very close. Handset works great and voice quality/sound and pickup are clear and sharp even in other rooms away from the base, and even with the room’s door shut and a tv or computer on within a few feet. Answering machine is a nice quality bonus that has a longer length allowed for messages than my old one and works great, too.

Poor construction, poor sound quality and lack of essential features, such as visual indication of waiting voice mail, make this product one of the worst possible choices.
Customer Review: GREAT LITTLE CORDLESS
I bought this phone about two years ago just because I ran across it on sale. I just recently started using it. I do not understand all the bad reviews. Some reviewers mention the answering device — this model does NOT have an answering device, so…. There are all the options I needed. The ring is pure and adjustable, the voice clarity is good, there’s no static, the range is great — from the third floor of my house to out in the yard to the inside of my neighbor’s house is fine. Plus, it’s cute. The round speaker gives an old fashioned look to a modern product. I’m very pleased with it.

Customer Review: GE wall phone
I purchased this phone because of its profile. I wanted a phone that would go flat against the wall. Most other phones seem to be suited for the counter not the wall. With my old one, I inadvertently knocked it off the wall a number of times.
This phone was easy to set up; it even comes with voice instructions. The luminescent readout was large and easy to see. I was surprised that it also keeps the date as well the time on the screen. I have not used the answering machine so I can’t comment on it.
I consider this phone a great value for the price.

Customer Review: Poor for users of hearing aids
This phone advertises that it is good for people with mild hearing loss. I hoped it would be good for someone wearing behind the ear hearing aids. Not so. I could not get the telecoil in my hearing aids to sync with the phone. And even with the volume set at maximum, I could not hear the voice at the other end of the line. I returned the phone and replaced it with Panasonic KX-TG9332 which is also DECT 6.0. It is not especially recommended for the hearing impaired but I am able to use the telecoil on my hearing aids with the phone and the voice on the other end is clear. Also, the manual for the Panasonic is well written which is not the case for the GE.

Customer Review: No so good but great service
After only a few months the remote handset quit working. The company sent out a replacement in a short time and we did not even have to return the broken unit. The replacement is working fine although the handset volume is a bit low.
Customer Review: Decent features, mediocre performance
Bought this phone a couple of years ago. Mostly the features are good, but it’s not an outstanding phone. The corded handset volume adjustment doesn’t go low enough while dialing. It sometimes gets a loud burst of static when first answering on the cordless handset, which obliterates the first part of the conversation. Total message duration limit of 13 minutes is short. Two-ring pickup happens awfully quick. The belt clip on the cordless handset is useless, and both handsets are difficult to hold on the shoulder e.g. if you need to write a note. Speed-dial memory of 10 is pretty minimal.

I purchased this for an elderly parent. He loved the loud ringer and the phone looks very nice. It appeared to come partially assembled so that we could not hang on the wall - left us wondering if we actually got a new one or previous repair. We then realized that none of us could hear well on it. Boost feature does work, but TALK button does not change colors to warn those with normal hearing that it’s on - volume of speaker on other end fluctuated up and down in volume. Also, when speaking into mouthpiece it sounds like you’re in a tunnel - noise in your setting seems to amplify in the earpiece adding to the frustration. The volume control is easy to use, but increases the ‘noise’ along with the voice. The tone control appeared to do nothing and was a disappointment. We tried to use it for several days but decided that, aside from the loud ringer, it was useless. We’ve returned it and will try again, but it certainly won’t be a Clarity phone this time. Maybe we just got a lemon. And Amazon is great, as usual.

I bought this phone for my mother who is 85 and VERY hard of hearing. She has had other phones for the hearing impaired but was not able to hear very well. She was constanly trying to adjust her hearing aid. With this phone she can hear clearly, I don’t have to yell into the phone, and she actually hears it ring, answers on the frist call, instead of me having to leave several messages, or stop what I was doing to go to her house to check on her. Now she can have a normal conversation without trying to guess what was said, or missing out compleatly. She is happy therfore so am I.
